Devoted to his family, faithful to those he counted as friends, and ever striving for self- improvement, Jeff was taken from us much too soon. Lifelong learning, innovative leadership, and social responsibility were the cornerstones of Jeff’s life. After 40 years of working in the corporate arena in a variety of executive positions, his desire was to give back to the institutions that supported him and helped him to succeed. Upon retiring from CooperVision Inc. he decided to pursue a doctoral degree in non-profit organization in the hopes of being able to develop a plan to support tomorrow’s leaders in business, government, and non-profit organizations. He volunteered at Taproot to lend his expertise to a food bank needing to revamp their Board of Directors and also at a homeless shelter working to provide children educational support as their families transitioned to a new community.
Giving back was his passion and his goal. Looking to establish support systems for those less fortunate was his premise for this foundation. Recognizing that many of the institutions that had helped him succeed were no longer available to a new generation, Jeff sought new and innovative ways to improve the chances of success for economically challenged college students. While he was unable personally to see this dream come to fruition, the Jeffrey A. McLean Foundation will be his legacy.
